Urban Science Initiative, Inc.

We aspire to stimulate curiosity and inspire science learning in everyone by creating fun, memorable experiences. Wevalue science as an indispensable tool for understanding our world and enriching our lives.

The Urban Science Inititative is a direct result of our involvement in communities across Texas presenting science workshops, special topics and talking to students and other community groups.

We have produced a number of science related events and workshops for museums, universities, and schools. We have science events down to a science.

We currently produce Amazing Skies, WeatherQuest and Oceanarium on an annual basis for the Witte Museum, the Children's Museum of Brownsville, The Texas State Aquarium and the International Museum of Art and Science in McAllen, Texas. Amazing Skies is a space-science focused family event. WeatherQuest is a weather-focused family event. Oceanarium is an ocean science focused event. Each has many "hands-on" elements along with prominent speakers and exhibits.

spacestation

The International Space Station (ISS) is the largest international scientific project ever conceived. Built by the United States, Russia, Japan, Canada, and 11 European countries, the station is powered by solar arrays that will generate 110 kilowatts of power once completed. Laboratory and habitation modules will support a permanent international crew of seven astronauts. ISS will serve as a platform for Earth and space observation and the experiments conducted on board will help produce new materials and pharmaceutical products, which can only be developed in microgravity.
